Classes

HEARTSAVER CPR: The St. John's Mercy Hospital Heartsaver CPR class teaches adult/infant/child CPR skills and management of an obstructed airway. Information on heart attack, stroke and pediatric safety issues are included. Cost is $40. Meets from 6:30-9:30 p.m. April 18 in Classroom A, on the first floor of the Mercy Medical Building, 851 E. Call 636-239-8004 to register.AUTISM: Autism Education and Support Services hosts classes at the Center for Autism Education, 105 Crossings Industrial Court in O'Fallon. Classes include Understanding Autism, 6-8 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month, and Strategies for Challenging Behaviors, 6-8 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month. These classes are designed for parents, grandparents, baby sitters, friends or other family members who want to learn more about autism. Cost is $30 per class. To register, call 636-978-4951.

INTRO TO INTERPLAY: A free introductory session to InterPlay will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. April 2 in the Community room of St. John's Mercy Sports and Therapy, 1713 Heritage Hills Center in Washington, Mo. The class will be offered weekly as part of St. John's Mercy Hospital's wellness program. InterPlay is the practice and philosophy of appreciating the body as a system of intelligence. It teaches simple forms in movement and stillness, voice and story, and ease and amusement, which invite the body to unwind and release the tension and stress carried in the body. The InterPlay class is for adults of all ages and physical abilities. It is especially helpful for persons living with chronic pain or stress. To pre-register, call 636-239-8858. Expo

HOLISTIC HEALTH EXPO: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. April 12 in the Training Center at East Central College, 1964 Prairie Dell Road in Union. Experts will be available to answer questions regarding diet and nutrition, exercise and fitness, mind/body techniques for stress reduction, and options for the treatment of illness and disease prevention. Health fair

2008 WARREN COUNTY FAMILY HEALTH FAIR: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 5 at Warrenton High School, 803 Pinckney Road. Meet community health care providers, get free health information and screenings, informative safety demonstrations, drawings and door prizes. Admission is free. SCREENING

STROKE AND OSTEOPEROSIS SCREENING: Appointments begin at 9 a.m. April 17 at Knights of Columbus Hall, 700 South St. in Warrenton. Screenings are non-invasive and easy to obtain. CROHN'S AND COLITIS SUPPORT GROUP: The St. John's Mercy Hospital Crohn's and Colitis Support Group offers support and education on issues specific to Crohn's disease, colitis and ostomies. Families and friends are welcome to attend. Meetings are from 7-8 p.m. the second Monday of every other month in Classroom A, on the first floor of the Mercy Medical Building, 851 E. NEW MOMS' NETWORK: Led by a registered nurse, this group provides new mothers methods for coping with baby, work and home life. There is no cost to attend, and reservations are not required.
